Tasting Menu

As a farm-driven restaurant celebrating the seasonal flavors of the Midwest, our year-round tasting menu, offered nightly, showcases a full creative expression of locally sourced ingredients. The multi-course experience invites guests to follow the story of the current season as it unfolds, course by course. Optional wine pairings are thoughtfully selected to complement and elevate the flavors of each dish.
Refreshed seasonally to highlight the freshest local ingredients, the tasting menu offers a more immersive way to dine while staying true to the comforting, familiar flavors that define Scratchboard Kitchen and honoring our commitment to scratch-made food, thoughtful sourcing, and Midwestern sensibility.
The experience extends beyond the table with a keepsake guests can take home. Each menu is printed on plantable seed paper and includes a featured recipe to recreate at home using the homegrown ingredient.
The current tasting menu is available to view via our reservation link. Reservations may be made by selecting “Experiences” on our reservation page. Optional wine pairings may be added at the time of booking or upon arrival.

Chef Grace’s Inspiration:

This menu is shaped by a Midwestern sensibility, one that values the land, honors the seasons, and celebrates the farms and producers who make our food possible. We cook with what the region gives us, letting the fields, orchards, and cold-weather harvests guide both our creativity and our restraint.
Each course is built on the belief that food should feel familiar yet new. We pair comforting, memory-evoking flavors with unexpected contrasts, layering acidity, warmth, richness, and brightness to create dishes that are both rooted and reimagined. Some plates draw on nostalgia: the quiet comfort of soup on a snow-day afternoon, or the ritual of making pierogies with family during the holidays. Others explore the tension and harmony between opposing flavors: sweet and savory, smoky and fresh, earthy and bright.
At its heart, this menu reflects a place, a season, and the simple joy of ingredients at their peak, cooked with intention, respect, and a touch of curiosity.
